Dinika + John's Glamorous Red Carpet Catholic Wedding // St. Ignatius Church + San Francisco Film Centre // San Francisco, CA
Dinika & John's San Francisco wedding was pure fairytale.
From the beautiful Victorian house Dinika got ready in to the awe inspiring St. Ignatius Church where they said their vows and the gorgeous San Francisco Film Centre where the party really got started - from start to finish, their wedding day was a visual (and literal, when you add in the incredible food) feast of love. And I haven't even mentioned the Elvis impersonator yet.
Whenever I write these blog posts, they end up boiling down to a series of moments, vignettes of the day (and night) that we were lucky enough to experience alongside the couple. So I'm just going to lean in this time, and give you the top moments from Dinika & John's wedding day that are still majestically vibrant for me.
- The post-ceremony limo ride (featuring a cameo by a dude who just strolled by in a Pikachu suit, which is maybe the most San Francisco thing that's ever happened to us on a wedding day) and photo shoot, which took us inside an hour from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Palace of Fine Arts, while the wedding party alternated guzzling water, toasting the bride and groom, and calling out directions to the befuddled limo driver.
- The special ceremony in which everyone in attendance passed through, and then joined hands to lengthen, a tunnel of exuberant faces and raised arms. Dinika and John, who were last to enter, ended up running through a crowd of loving attendees stretched completely around the building. The level of joy there was off the charts.
- For the occasion, Dinika and John finagled it so that all of their guests walked into the iconic SF Film Centre by way of an honest-to-god red carpet. And if you've never seen a grandma absolutely glowing with her own star power, well then you haven't given your family and friends a red carpet entrance before, and you should fix that immediately.
- THE ELVIS IMPERSONATOR. You guys. Seriously. Weigh in in the comments below: great wedding reception idea or the greatest wedding reception idea.
The raison d'être of every wedding day is love. And this day was filled to the brim with it. But it was also luxe and lovely, quiet and boisterous, grandiose and understated, footloose and also intimate. Which is all, I realize now, just to say that this day was a reflection of the incredible couple we all came together to celebrate.
Dinika and John, I wish you a lifetime of moments as grand as your wedding day. You are an unforgettable duo. It was an absolute honor to share the day with you.
