As completely unabashed nerds ourselves (I mean, we named our children after characters from The Princess Bride and Doctor Who), I say this with all affection and authority: Geneva and Nicholas’ wedding was geek paradise. There were board games, word games, a Super Nintendo, a photobooth where guests could dress up like the Mario Brothers. We even spotted a photo of the bride and groom in Mario and Luigi cosplay! And through the whole wedding, Geneva, Nicholas and their guests exhibited this unabashed sense of play, which is really the hallmark of the true nerd. It also makes for a rockin’ party.

The venue, Crawford’s Barn in Sacramento, is a converted horse barn with a park and playground attached. Geneva and Nicholas filled the “stalls” with games and activities, but occasionally children and adults would wander outside during the reception to climb the play equipment, then back inside to drop dance moves. The day just had a wonderful, relaxed vibe from start to finish. Nicholas is the brother of a dear friend of ours, so it was doubly fun to get to meet Geneva and to hang out with their families. Congratulations, you two, on a one-of-a-kind wedding and on your marriage! We had so much fun shooting your day.
