I'm not sure which component of Ashley and Sean's autumn engagement session in Knights Ferry tipped it over into pure magic. It might have been the pumpkins they carved with their wedding date, or the piggy-back ride, or that they made their dog, Harley, a little sign to announce their engagement and then used her to reenact a scene from The Lion King. It could have been the way they look at each other, too - they are so ecstatically happy to be together that their love positively bursts through the photos.

Is there any more appropriate time for a Golden Gate Park engagement session than golden hour? Becky and Walter were great sports during their shoot - we initially planned to take pictures inside the Japanese Tea Gardens, and when we were thwarted by an early closing time, they were totally game to switch things up a bit. The pictures we snapped outside the iconic park weren't what we had originally planned, but I think they turned out even better. We even found a fairy door while wandering through a secluded eucalyptus grove. There's a lesson in there somewhere about best-laid-plans and going with the flow, I think - especially when it comes to weddings!

Megan holds a special place in our hearts for her combined ability to find the best reaction gifs and her brilliance at graphic design (we seriously can't wait to show off the full page ad she designed for us for the next issue of Bridal Couture Magazine).
She also happens to be getting married to her true love, Jason, in four days' time. To celebrate, we're sharing our favorite images from their Ripon almond orchard engagement session back in February - blossoms and all.

Justin and I have known Jon for just over ten years. We met back when we were all graduate students in Cornell’s MFA writing program – Justin and I in poetry, Jon in fiction. Together, we’ve seen each other’s highest highs and lowest lows, so trust us when we say there have been no better years than the ones Jon has spent with Monica. When they started dating, it was obvious that Monica’s wit and self-assuredness were a match for Jon’s (which is saying a lot). Add to that the fact that she’s brilliant AND beautiful and we were very clear from the beginning that he had to LOCK THAT DOWN.

Kait and Aly's engagement session was a recipe for greatness: mosaics, graffiti, belly laughs, CONFETTI FIGHTS, sweet nose kisses and dancing in Midtown and reminiscing on the steps of the building where they met. We were thrilled to get to explore the Lavender Heights area of Sacramento for the first time and to see where these brides began their journey to the altar - which, incidentally, will take place exactly one month from today!

Sometimes, if you're really lucky, there's a special alchemy that happens at a photoshoot - a mix of the perfect couple in the perfect location at just the right time of day. Sa and Jason's engagement shoot was like that: windy, but not too chilly. Just enough clouds to allow for sunshine and spectacular sunset colors. And at the center of it all, a couple that's so excited to be getting married that the rest of the world just drops away.

We could not have asked for a more beautiful day - or location - for Solana and Kevin's engagement shoot. Lush green grasses, wildflowers and waning sun? Yes, please. Of course, the gorgeous location and light are only a backdrop for what really shines through in the photos: Solana and Kevin's boundless love.
