I admit it. I was an English Major. In fact, Dana and I both were. And before I made a living looking through a lens, I made it with my fingers on a keyboard. And Dana? Well, she actually qualifies as a legit writer. Books are in our blood. So maybe that explains why we had such a squealing "OMG LOOK AT THIS NO NO LOOK AT THIS" reaction to Katie +Kevin's incredible book-infused Autumn wedding.
From boutonniere rosettes made of dictionary pages to hanging leaf details cut from novels, their ceremony and reception at Redeemer Church in downtown Modesto was chock full of glorious candy for book nerds like us.
Katie wore a lovely dress adorned with a belt hand-beaded by her mom with lace shoulders DIY'd so perfectly I never would have guessed they were anything but original, while Kevin rocked a sharp dark gray suit with polka dot details on his shirt, bow tie and pocket square. And, of course, the amazing paper flower handmade by Katie and incorporated into his boutonniere (and all the bouquets) by the disgustingly-talented Willow Floral Design.
Lest I forget, the bookish details weren't the only nerds-like-us pleasing items of the day. Kevin slipped a secret Superman logo in at the bottom of his pocket square and threw a little tie dye in on his socks as well, while the ring bearers were official ring security agents with wood-burned badges to prove it.
This affair was the perfect celebration of a couple whose first date was a viewing of Star Wars and who filled every conversation with references to nerd staples from Harry Potter to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. For Dana and I, these two were kindred spirits and just like us, I know they have years and years of board games, midnight releases and pages upon pages of love story ahead of them.
Katie and Kevin, you two are completely epic. I'm so glad to finally share your wedding day with our readers! And let me take this opportunity to officially crown you as the fastest Facebook-name-changers ever. (Seriously, you guys, we're talking like seconds after the ceremony. :D)
