It's no secret that we've long been supporters of gay marriage - or as we like to call it, marriage. The recent Supreme Court ruling has us giddy and we were thrilled when the website LGBT Weddings wanted to interview us about our business. You can read the full interview here, in which we talk about our photography, inspiration and our experiences shooting LGBT couples.
Megan + Jason's Blossom-Filled Engagement Session // Ripon, CA
Megan holds a special place in our hearts for her combined ability to find the best reaction gifs and her brilliance at graphic design (we seriously can't wait to show off the full page ad she designed for us for the next issue of Bridal Couture Magazine).
She also happens to be getting married to her true love, Jason, in four days' time. To celebrate, we're sharing our favorite images from their Ripon almond orchard engagement session back in February - blossoms and all.

Justin and I have known Jon for just over ten years. We met back when we were all graduate students in Cornell’s MFA writing program – Justin and I in poetry, Jon in fiction. Together, we’ve seen each other’s highest highs and lowest lows, so trust us when we say there have been no better years than the ones Jon has spent with Monica. When they started dating, it was obvious that Monica’s wit and self-assuredness were a match for Jon’s (which is saying a lot). Add to that the fact that she’s brilliant AND beautiful and we were very clear from the beginning that he had to LOCK THAT DOWN.

Kait and Aly's engagement session was a recipe for greatness: mosaics, graffiti, belly laughs, CONFETTI FIGHTS, sweet nose kisses and dancing in Midtown and reminiscing on the steps of the building where they met. We were thrilled to get to explore the Lavender Heights area of Sacramento for the first time and to see where these brides began their journey to the altar - which, incidentally, will take place exactly one month from today!

Warning: this post WILL induce smiles.
I've been working with Kadie for the last couple years through her position with Grimbleby Coleman CPAs, but when she asked me earlier this year if I'd be willing to do a shoot with the new golden retriever puppy that she and her boyfriend John had just adopted, it was the first time I'd had the good fortune to shoot her outside the office. And hey, the chance to shoot a gorgeous couple, in a gorgeous location--Knight's Ferry--with their adorable new pup? Seriously, this had the makings of a photographer's dream session.

Do you know that quote from The Princess Bride about true love? No, not that one. Not that one, either. I'm thinking of this one:
"You truly love each other and so you might have been truly happy. Not one couple in a century has that chance, no matter what the story books say. And so I think no man in a century will suffer as greatly as you will."

We knew the wedding we shot three weeks ago was an incredible one, that the love and boundless joy and ugly-crying at that event was something worth writing about. Turns out the NY Times agreed! Check out Eva and Winston's story and, you know, try not to cry.
(Note: the photos in the article are not ours, but we're thrilled to share our shots of the event in a blog post next week. Stay tuned!)
Cheyanne + Christian's Glamorous Black Tie Wedding // The River Mill // French Camp, CA
There's just something about a classic, dramatic black tie wedding that never goes out of style. Cheyanne and Christian chose the perfect venue for theirs: The River Mill in French Camp, a gigantic brick building - originally built in 1873 - that's surrounded by carefully-tended gardens, fountains and old oak trees. And as gorgeous as this converted chicory mill was, Cheyanne and Christian's elegant wedding details were more than a match.

When Melissa booked a family portrait session, she had one request - that we shoot it at her family's almond farm in Riverbank during blossom season. Surrounded by lush wild grasses and a canopy of white flowers, the Lapeña family's love for each other had them practically glowing. And literally glowing, thanks to the sunset.
